What is MEA Monoethanolamine and where is it used

CO2-Production Plants

Fuel such as Light Diesel, Natural Gas and or Kerosen will be burned to produce fluegas. During this burning process amibent air will be added to the burning process to generate CO2.

This fluegas is containing CO2-Gas up to 10-15%. After the burning process this fluegas will be washed to eliminate sulphur. The next stage will be an absorbing process to use MEA (Monoethanolamine) which will act like a "sponge". At cold stage of this solvent it will only absorb CO2-Gas. At a next step this enriched MEA will be heated to release the CO2.

CO2-Recovery Plants

Sources of fluegas containing CO2 will use MEA to recover the CO2-content. Most of such sources have unfortunately too high oxygen levels, where as the oxygen content will degenerate the MEA. The presence of oxygen will reduce or even destroy the lifetime of MEA. OXYMEAPLUS is a specially designed absorbing solvent to handle CO2-sources with an oxygen content of up to 7%.
